A neutral copper complex (1) substituted with two tetrathiafulvalenyldithiolato groups was successfully synthesized by the iodine oxidation of the corresponding monoanionic complex (2) obtained by the reaction of bis(tetramethylammonium) bis(dimethylthio-tetra-thiafulvalenyldithiolato)zinc complex with CuCl2. The complex 1 showed a high electrical conductivity (7.8 x 10-2 S·cm-1) on the compressed pellet at room temperature. On the other hand, a very low value (1.0 x 10-6 S·cm-1) was obtained for 2. The ESR and SQUID measurements suggest significant interaction between the copper d spin and conducting tetrathiafulvalenyl (pi) electron in 1.
