Two silver(I) complexes of 4,5-ethylenedithio-1,3-dithiole-2-thione (C5H4S5), {[Ag(C5H4S5)3]ClO4·CH3CN}2 and [Ag(C5H4S5)CF3SO3] have been synthesized and characterized crystallographically. They are unique dimer and two-dimensional structures respectively and assembled by S···S contacts (Figure 1). The finding of the shortest S···S contacts (3.284 Å, 3.262 Å) in these complexes indicates that the coordination linkage in metal complexes of organic donor can be expected to control the intra- or inter-molecular interactions. The coordination mode of the C5H4S5 ligand has also been systematically discussed.
