Photo-Molecular Science

Project Title: Local Structure Analysis of Aqueous Solutions and Chemical Reactions
Professor: Nobuhiro KOSUGI
https://www.ims.ac.jp/en/research/group/kosugi/

Details of the project:

IMS has one of world competitive synchrotron radiation facilities, named UVSOR Synchrotron. UVSOR Synchrotron is dedicated to molecular science and makes it possible to do unique in situ/operando spectroscopic studies of liquid solutions and chemical reactions by using soft X-rays. Choose one of the following two projects.
1) Theoretical study of inner-shell spectroscopy applied to interacting molecular systems
2) Experimental study of soft X-ray spectroscopy applied to electrochemical reactions

Required skills:

1) Experience of theoretical work on UNIX (or Linux) platform with FORTRAN programming and basic knowledge of quantum chemistry and electronic spectroscopy are both preferable.
2) Experience of experimental work on spectroscopy of liquid samples is highly preferable.
