Project Title: Materials Characterization Using Newly Exploited Spectroscopic Techniques
Professor: Toshihiko YOKOYAMA
http://msmd.ims.ac.jp/yokoyama_g/index_e.html

Details of the project:

1) Preparation of magnetic thin films epitaxially grown on single crystalline substrates in ultrahigh vacuum and spectroscopic characterization of the magnetic thin films by magneto-optical techniques using lasers and/or synchrotron radiation, and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM)
2) Characterization of fuel cells under working conditions using ambient-pressure hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy
3) Pico- and femtosecond x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy of photocatalysts
