Award
Kenji Ohmori, Director of the Laser Research Center for Molecular Science and Professor of Photo-Molecular Science, has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) "for his pioneering development of spatiotemporal wave-packet engineering in which the ultrafast wave-packet interference in a molecule is visualized and controlled with precisions on the picometer spatial and attosecond temporal scales." His nomination made by APS Fellows has been evaluated by the Fellowship Committee of the Division of Laser Science (DLS), reviewed by the APS Fellowship Committee, and approved by full APS Council on 9th November 2009. Election to APS Fellowship is limited to no more than one half of one percent of the membership. Following his recent honors including Japan Academy Medal and JSPS Prize in 2007, the present election to APS Fellowship is a distinct honor signifying international recognition of his outstanding contributions to science.
The award presentation will be made at LASER SCIENCE XXVI: APS/DLS 26th ANNUAL MEETING, October 24-28 2010, Rochester, NY.
