2025: The International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ) marks 100 years since the birth of quantum mechanics. In this landmark year, a major highlight will be presented at the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
A special talk will come true between the Movie Director Mamoru Oshii, who has created many masterpieces including "GHOST IN THE SHELL", and Professor Kenji Ohmori at the Institute for Molecular Science, who is one of the global leaders in the development of quantum computers. Let's see how chemical reactions will happen in the collaboration between quantum computers and the future world depicted in Director Oshii's classic and revolutionary anime "Ghost in the Shell". The show will open with a special lecture by Professor Ohmori about "100-year mystery of quantum mechanics".

Director Mamoru Oshii (Film Director)
Mamoru Oshii graduated from the Department of Art Education at Tokyo Gakugei University. While still a student, he began making independent films. Since then, he has remained a major influence in the entertainment industry, including Hollywood cinema.
Notable Works:
Professor Kenji Omori (Professor, Institute for Molecular Science)
Kenji Ohmori received his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 1992. After serving as a Research Associate and Associate Professor at Tohoku University, he was appointed Full Professor at the Institute for Molecular Science in 2003. Currently, he leads the development of next-generation quantum computers as a Project Manager for the Moonshot R&D Program. During his university years, he was a member of a four-piece alternative rock band and performed at Rokumeikan, one of Tokyo's premier live music venues, with the aim of making a professional debut.
