Summary | In this talk, I will introduce the principle and progress of new laser microfabrication named two-photon microfabrication, in which nanometer resolution has been achieved by using a femtosecond laser with the wavelength of 780 nm. Based on the nonlinear optical effect, multiphoton processes, and threshold effetecs between laser and matter, we can break the limit of light diffraction, which leads us open a way for nanofabrication using laser direct writing technique. For applications, various 3D microstructures including photonic crystals, integrated photonic circuits, MEMS and microfluids have been obtained. Using multiple beams fabrication method, we have fabricated various assembled 3D microstructures as micromachines and microdevices. We also fabricated functional 3D microstructures with nanocomposites which show unique optical properties. |
Other | We have an open seminar on November 13 at 3:30 PM. The speaker is Prof. Xueming Duan from Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. Prof. Duan has been mainly interested in construction and the properties of microfabrication with nanoscale spatial resolution by femtosecond pulse laser. |
