Summary |
In this seminar, the recent progresses in the preparation of bio-inspired polymers focused on the structure mimicking are summarized. Selected polymers, such as particles, fiber, interface, bulk and polymer intelligent behaviors from zero to three dimensions, are described with emphasis on the relationship between the structure and the corresponding smart functions. The presentation are mainly including as follows: 1) Biomimetic one dimensional materials, spider silk, polar bear hairs and others 2) Bio-inspired two dimensional materials, e.g. electrochromic color shifting coatings, color shifting photonic crystals, bio-inspired antifoulings urfaces, bio-inspired anti-reflective surfaces 3) Bio-inspired three dimensional materials, such as damping materials with bio-inspired structures, aerogels with amazing 3D structured ultralight porous materials, stimulti-responsive actuators based on hydrogels, self-healing materials based on microvascular networks. |
