Summary |
This lecture will discuss how venture capital can be used to bring an idea to market, with an emphasis on how FusionX uses its product commercialization experience to work with technical entrepreneurs. The unique opportunity to create new business models which integrate hardware, software, and cloud technologies will be discussed, including some case examples of companies in the FusionX portfolio. In this lecture, an emphasis will be made on the fundraising process, with some suggestions to the researchers on some actions they can take today to increase their chances of finding business opportunities and success. Mr. Hood is Managing Partner and founder of FusionX Ventures, a San Diego-based venture capital firm focused on Life Science/Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, and Automated Kiosk technologies in partnership with D&K Engineering, which was founded by mechatronics engineers from Stanford University and has 600 employees dedicated to cutting edge technical solutions for both large companies and startups.
