概　要	Plasmonic nanomaterials, and gold nanorods in particular, are able to couple with electromagnetic irradiation at visible and near-infrared frequencies. These anisotropic nanostructures can support a variety of linear and nonlinear optical responses, due in large part to their polarization-sensitive modes that can be tuned by various structural and materials factors. Gold nanorods have been used in plasmonic applications and also in biological imaging; they are also highly efficient at converting optical energy into heat, with important consequences for theranostics and nanomedicine.
