| 概 要 | The title organic molecule is a 4-fold symmetric platform for the scaffolding of elaborated multidentate P-containing ligands. The functionalisation of the upper-rim requires a little bit more care and steps with respect to that of the lower-rim. In this lecture, the strategic anchoring of P-containing donors will be shown, whether these are the mono-, di-1,3- or di-1,2-, tri- and tetra-substituted derivatives. Both the achiral (R2P- and R2PCH2-) and chiral versions (R1R2P-) will be presented stressing on some selected classic problems of regio- and enantio-selectivities for some classic reactions such as hydrogenation, hydroformylation and nucleophylic allylic substitution reactions. With the help of X-ray structure determination and computer modeling, explanations as why a reaction is more or less selective will be proposed. It will be shown that the calix-4-arene moiety expectedly plays a role in the observed reactivity.
