概 要 | The concept of quasi-phase-matching (QPM) was introduced at the very beginning of the era of lasers and nonlinear optics, however only since the mid-1990’s the QPM frequency conversion started to make serious inroads into the field of nonlinear optics and applications. Substantial effort over the last 10 years has been devoted to tailor the properties of the most popular oxide ferroelectrics used for QPM structure fabrication, KTiOPO4 (KTP), LiNbO3 and LiTaO3. The flexibility of engineered nonlinear interactions by appropriately designing QPM structure proved to be very enticing for many applications of nonlinear optics. This talk will describe the recent advances in ferroelectric-domain structuring in the micro- and nano- scale of KTP isomorphs, demonstrating from periodic poling of thick crystals for high energy optical parametric oscillators to engineering of sub-micrometer domain gratings for novel devices involving counter-propagating photons such as mirrorless optical parametric oscillator. The key issues for the different KTP isomorphs will be presented and discussed. |
