概 要

Control of near and far field emission and optimization of the coupling between incident fields and nanostructures are fundamental issues that underpin the ability to enhance sub-wavelength linear and nonlinear light-matter interaction processes in nano-optics.
Here we show that properties such as the resonant behavior or spatial distribution and angular momentum of both the scattered and internal light fields of general particles can be controlled by optimization or suppression of some of a nanostructure's optical interaction channels. Some of these modes can efficiently transport energy into the far field, while others are mostly limited to the local region, so one can very generally control either near or far field properties of nanoparticles or nanostructures depending on the channels optimized.
