概 要

Electron transfer processes at surfaces and interfaces play a crucial rolein diverse fields of materials sciences, e.g. in chemical catalysis or in electronic device physics. Time-resolved two-photon photoemission (2PPE), a method that combines femtosecond pump-probe techniques with photoelectron spectroscopy, can provide detailed information about the ultrafast dynamics of such processes. In this talk, I will discuss interface electronic states that form between well-ordered layers of organic semiconductors and some single crystal metal surfaces. On one hand, these interface states have a large overlap with the metal, like the Shockley state of clean metal surfaces. On the other hand, we find also a short electron transfer time of 50 fs between the interface state and the molecular LUMO. When located between the Fermi level of the metal and the LUMO such interface states can thus efficiently mediate the charge transfer at the molecule-metal contact.
