概 要 | The development of two-dimensional electronic-vibrational (2DEV) spectroscopy with its dramatically improved spectral resolution combined with ultrafast time resolution has enabled new studies of energy and charge transport in photosystem II and its component up to and including the super complex with over 200 chlorophyll molecules. These results have enabled clarification of several long-debated aspects of charge separation and energy transport. The resolution of 2DEV spectra now exceeds simple analysis schemes and new methods of extracting detailed dynamics are required.
The regulation of light harvesting is still incompletely understood, but recent results on an important crop plant (Science 377, 851, (2022)) dramatically underscore the need to fully understand and optimize the response of plants and algae to fluctuating light. Recent snap-shot fluorescence lifetime studies and a molecular model of the response to fluctuating light in an algal cell will be briefly described. |
