| 概 要 | Quantum computing promises to change the world, revolutionizing industries such as drug discovery, financial services,transportation and cybersecurity. However, building quantum computers is an immensely challenging scientific and engineering task - requiring large teams of highly trained people across multiple disciplines working over many years with tens of millions of dollars in funding. I will explain the business side of quantum computing, examining the current market landscape, private and public investment trends and dynamics in both hardware and software, and the prospects for building scalable commercial companies in this market. I will discuss the prospects for commercial quantum computing and the critical role that governments play in providing funding for fundamental research, developing user centers to democratize access to quantum computing, enabling and supporting supply chains and ecosystems and the development of a quantum-ready workforce. Lastly, I will evaluate the prospects for a “quantum winter” and how the industry can best prepare to cross the chasm to commercial success.
