Cold-atom based quantum simulators and computers.
Our research group is starting a 8-year long project “Large-scale and high-coherence fault-tolerant quantum computer with dynamical atom arrays” supported by Moonshot, an ambitious governmental high-risk, hig-impact R&D program. The project involves a large-scale collaboration with major domestic and international public research laboratories (National Universities, NINS, RIKEN) and private companies.
The successful candidate will work at the project headquarter in NINS (Okazaki), will support the project scientifically by contributing to one or several of the following research and development lines:
(1) Development and integration of a cold Rydberg atom quantum processor unit (laser-cooled atoms trapped in optical tweezers)
(2) High-fidelity quantum gates with cold Rydberg atoms
(3) Quantum error correction and detection techniques for cold Rydberg atom
(4) Laser development (high-power cw laser, ultrafast lasers, fiberized optical setups)
The successful candidate will work with our faculty, research staff and students in an open-minded, international, environment.
Full-time, non-tenured. Period of employment is up to 2030 with annual renewal. The Moonshot project will be evaluated at stage gates in 2025 and 2027.
If employed as Research Assistant Professor, the period of employment is renewed annually up to 3 years (with possible extension up to 5 years after examination).
Young researchers who hold a doctoral degree or are expected to obtain a doctoral degree by the time of appointment.
