Assistant Professor / Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Photo-Molecular Science Ⅱ, Department of Photo-Molecular Science

1. Position:

Assistant Professor / Research Assistant Professor : several positions available


2. Job Description:

Research and development of the quantum control of atoms / molecules and its applications to quantum technologies, in collaboration with Professor Kenji Ohmori, under the generous supports with priority by large-scale national programs for quantum  technologies of the government of Japan: the “Cabinet Office /JST Moonshot program” and “MEXT Q-LEAP”. Experience in quantum control or quantum technologies is not required.

If employed as an assistant professor, participation in managements of IMS which is an inter-university research institute*. Teaching and supervising graduate students as an assistant professor of SOKENDAI(The Graduate University for Advanced Studies).

4. Conditions of employment:

(1)Assistant Professor
Full-time, permanent. Promotion inside IMS is not allowed. A successful candidate is encouraged to transfer to a position outside the institute after approximately six years. For details see these links

(2)Research Assistant Professor
Full-time, nontenured. Period of employment is 3 years with one-year contract renewable every year. The contract could be renewable up to 5 years if positively evaluated.

 

5. Required qualifications for the candidate:

Applicants should possess a M.Sc. degree, Ph.D. degree or an equivalent scientific career.


6. Expected start date:

On or at the earliest possible date after June 1st, 2023

9. Selection process:

Candidates will be selected under the advice of a personnel committee of the IMS. IMS may withholdselection if there is no suitable person for the position.


10. Compensation:

In accordance with the NINS employee compensation regulation.


11. Submission:
